Questions

Grace Abounds Counseling conducts an initial appointment in which a level of care assessment is administered. This assessment will help our trained clinicians make an informed recommendation about which of our programs will be best at the outset. If a higher level of care such as an inpatient facility or detox center is necessary, an appropriate referral will be made.
The adolescent program is available to youths ages 12 to 18 and to young adults.
The support of your child is highly recommended. Our program has a family component as part of the treatment protocol. Therefore, you will be required to attend and participate weekly in the family program, which consists of a group and/or individual session with your child.
These vary from one person to another. It also depends on their drug use and drug of choice. Each drug has short-term and long-term physical effects. Stimulants like cocaine increase heart rate and blood pressure, whereas opioids like heroin may slow the heart rate and reduce respiration. Meanwhile, someone who abuses marijuana may have a chronic cough or worsening of asthmatic symptoms. Again, the signs and symptoms differ based on use and individuals.
If an individual is compulsively seeking and using a drug despite negative consequences, such as job loss, debt, family problems, and/or physical problems brought on by the drug abuse, then the individual possibly is addicted. Some people may believe they can stop any time, but the reality is that they cannot and will require professional help. Support from friends and family can be critical in getting people into treatment and helping them to maintain abstinence following treatment.
Drug addiction can be effectively treated with behavioral therapies, and for addiction to some drugs such as heroin, nicotine, or alcohol, medications. Treatment will vary for each person depending on the type of drug(s) being used. Multiple courses of treatment may be needed to achieve success.
